Deliberate practice
Structured training that focuses on one’s weaknesses and repeats activities with the aim of mastery in an environment with immediate feedback.
Conditions
Deliberate practice must meet the following conditions:
- Focused attention on a specific weakness - Target areas that need improvement rather than practicing what you already do well.
- Immediate feedback - Get information about what works and what does not.
- Activities designed to stretch current abilities - Work just outside your comfort zone.
- A high degree of repetition and refinement - Practice repeatedly with the aim of mastery.
