History of programming languages
The history of programming languages.
Notes
- Standard libraries: In early languages such as ALGOL 58 and BASIC, the names of standard functions were keywords, and the language implementation was not distinguished from the standard library. Contrast this with most modern languages, which separate out the standard library and try to keep the language specification independent of it, or to minimize that dependency.
