## The origin of "Daehan"

- The etymology of Daehan (大韓) dates to the <Three Kingdoms period>. <Goguryeo>, <Baekje>, and <Silla> were collectively called Samhan, and Daehan refers to the unification of these three Han.
- "Daehan" was chosen again as the name of a modern state when Emperor Gojong proclaimed the <Korean Empire> in <1897>.
- The <Constituent National Assembly> inherited this name and stipulated it in the constitution in <1948>. It was confirmed again on <January 16, 1950>, by State Council Notice No. 7, "On the National Name, Certain Local Place Names, and the Use of Map Colors."
